Religious freedom and traditions would not be affected at all
There is difference between religious observance, rituals and civil rights. Everyone is free to conduct events related to birth adoption succession death marriage in accordance to their own customs and rituals. Hence the religious freedom is not at all affected.
But should the rights emanating from birth succession marriage divorce be guided through religion or by the guarantees given by Constitution ? Personal Laws should also be compatible with the Constitution and the Government is bound to fulfil what the Constitution says.
For more than sixty years now Hindu Code Bill are in effect. Has it affected anything ?
As long as things are within personal laws are fine, but when it comes out..
Any one can live among themselves as they wish. Any number of Castes, Religions and divisions shall do whatever they want within themselves. Even individuals shall live as they wish to live within themselves. But if problems arise and they come out in public their customs won’t be considered.
Solutions shall be given only through laws that the Government has enacted. In India the state of Goa has implemented Uniform Civil Code. Possibilities of extending something similar to the entire nation as Uniform Civil Code need to be explored taking that as precedent.
